Overview
Since 2020, I have worked alongside Yoke.Digital, a UK-based digital marketing agency. During this time, I have supported the delivery of SEO, content marketing, website projects, and broader digital marketing initiatives.
Unlike my other client case studies, which focus on rankings, traffic growth, or revenue metrics, this partnership instead highlights something equally valuable to me: Long-term trust.
Over the years, my role has expanded from simple delivery support to a broader position spanning implementation across various services, including direct client management, communication, and reporting, as well as ongoing project management and operational support.
As a result, this experience has provided deep exposure to a wide range of industries, business models, and marketing challenges. It has also helped develop a practical understanding of what businesses need to grow online and how successful projects are delivered behind the scenes in an agency setting.

From Freelancer to Trusted Delivery Partner
When this partnership began, my involvement was focused primarily on supporting digital marketing across client accounts. This mostly included social media management, post creation, scheduling, and on-profile engagement actions.
As the relationship with Yoke developed, my responsibilities expanded beyond individual tasks to encompass broader areas of project delivery and agency support. In some cases, this materialised in simply helping the admin side of Yoke itself, eager to improve internal assets and marketability.

Supporting Delivery
Began working alongside Yoke.Digital, providing support on their smaller-scale projects, which typically included social media marketing and simple content creation.
Expanded Support
While continuing to provide content and management support, my involvement expanded to include website management tasks.
Web Development
Further adding to daily tasks was the support of website projects across the WordPress, Squarespace, and Wix platforms. This involved building, management, and delivery.
Additionally, aided and maintained an external white-label site build process.
SEO & Full Management
Here, my role shifted from small channel support to direct client management. This included overseeing all channels for larger clients, project managing larger projects, and serving as the direct point of contact for client communication.
Additionally, SEO research, implementation and optimisation for clients became a core responsibility.
Continued Delivery
Continuing to support SEO, content, website builds and management, and required agency delivery across a range of client projects.

What Five+ Years Have Taught Me
Supporting businesses across multiple industries within an agency setting has provided valuable insight into how successful digital marketing projects are built and maintained. Strong results rarely come from a single tactic; instead, they come from consistent implementation, clear priorities, and a willingness to focus on the set of activities that create long-term value.
Similarly, client communication and interaction with a wide range of business owners have highlighted the importance of understanding the wider picture. Marketing activities, such as SEO, content, website management, and user experience, are rarely separate disciplines; the best outcomes are achieved when these elements work together.
Why This Experience Benefits My Clients
Working alongside a marketing agency for more than five years has provided exposure to challenges, opportunities, and project types that would have been difficult to gain through a single client relationship. I love working with my own clients, but that level of frequency is not something one person can match.
This insight has helped me identify opportunities quickly and prioritise more effectively. It has also helped heighten my focus on practical actions that support business growth.
I believe my general communication has strengthened, too. Knowing what is appreciated and, arguably more importantly, what has caused clients to leave previous suppliers helps ensure that all my ongoing projects open with clear communication on the points that matter.

Were You Employed by Yoke Digital?
No. I worked strictly as an independent consultant/freelancer, supporting the agency across a variety of projects and client accounts throughout our partnership.
How Does Agency Experience Differ From Working Directly With Clients?
Supporting agency projects often involves exposure to multiple industries, websites, and marketing challenges simultaneously.
This provides far more extensive experience across a wider variety of situations than many single-industry engagements, while still requiring a strong understanding of objectives and expectations.
Similarly, agency work is often collaborative, and thus, additional skill sets are required to effectively communicate objectives across a team. This is far more transferable than it first appears, as working directly with a client often requires input from multiple team members or marketing teams.
Have You Worked Across Different Website Platforms?
Throughout this partnership, I’ve worked on projects involving WordPress, Shopify, Squarespace, and Wix websites.
For WordPress, SS, and Wix, this involved both building the sites and ongoing maintenance and support.
For Shopify, this included general support, product imports, and QA.
Have You Worked Directly With Clients or Only Behind the Scenes?
I’ve done both.
Much of the work involved in supporting agency delivery at the beginning was done behind the scenes. This also included times when team members required additional support, and the work was completed to support them.
As time progressed, responsibilities also included direct client communication, acting as a project lead / account manager, reporting, and project discussions where relevant.
Communicating independently with clients and organising/leading weekly meetings was also within scope for many larger projects.
Have You Managed Projects Involving External Specialists?
Yes, specifically within two cases:
1 – Coordinating with an external developer to ensure the website build projects progressed smoothly.
2 – Coordinating with external designers to ensure deliverables were completed effectively. This also included managing and quality-assuring the revision process to ensure the client’s thoughts were incorporated throughout.
Can You Support Other Agencies as Well as Direct Clients?
Absolutely.
Experience working within an agency environment creates transferable skills that can benefit other agencies, whether they offer the exact same set of services or not.
Similarly, the skillset gained provides ample benefits to direct clients, as they have access to a more streamlined process with me while valuing from a myriad of tried and tested approaches.
